14 March 2016 - The Consuls Generals of Japan, Philippines and South Korea in Hawaii and the Governor of Hawaii David Ige witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation by the presidents of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii; Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii; Hawaii Korean Chamber of Commerce and Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce on March 09 in Honolulu.

The signing of the quadripartite agreement is a milestone event for the four business chambers establishing the framework for maintaining stronger relations among the parties and for the betterment of the business organizations in their respective communities.  Daniel J.Y. Pyun, President, Hawaii Korean Chamber of Commerce; Eddie Flores, President, Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii; Sam Acosta, President, Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii; and Tyler Tokioka, Chairman, Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce signed on behalf of their respective organizations.

The three Consuls General delivered their remarks thanking the four organizations for their initiative to strengthen their cooperation among them and hoping that this would translate into increased business ties between Hawaii and China, Japan, Philippines and South Korea.

Philippine Consul General to Honolulu Gina Jamoralin remarked that the signing symbolized not only the entrepreneurial spirit in Hawaii but also the State’s  “aloha”  spirit and noted that  four chambers represented the countries whose people first migrated  to Hawaii during the early period of  Hawaii’s development from a plantation economy into the  present   modern and multi-cultural society.
