22 December 2016 – Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto R. Yasay, Jr. joined a meeting of ASEAN Foreign Ministers in Yangon to discuss recent developments in Myanmar’s northern Rakhine State on December 19.

During the meeting, which was presided over by Lao Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kummasith, Myanmar State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi briefed the Foreign Ministers on recent developments in northern Rakhine State. After the briefing, the Foreign Ministers exchanged views on how to assist Myanmar in addressing the issue, including providing humanitarian assistance to the affected communities as necessary. END
