The Philippines condemns the latest attack at Istanbul airport which claimed the lives of at least 42 innocent people and injured close to 150, and stands with Turkey in the global fight against terrorism. The Philippines applauds the heroic efforts of the security forces that prevented greater loss of lives as well as injuries.
The Philippine Embassy in Ankara has not received any reports of any Filipino national killed or wounded in the terrorist attack. They are constantly in touch with Filipino leaders and student groups throughout Turkey, and constantly updating its advisory which is sent to members of the Filipino Community through social media and dedicated e-group.
The Department of Foreign Affairs through the Philippine Embassy in Ankara continues to monitor the situation and is in touch with the appropriate Turkish authorities from the Ministries of the Interior (including police), Foreign Affairs, and the Turkish General Staff.
The Filipino nation extends sincerest condolences to the families and friends of the victims of this horrific crime. END
