FSI personnel participate in the #VowToEndVAW Commitment Board

MANILA 26 December 2024 - The Foreign Service Institute supported the Philippine Commission on Women in its 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) with the theme “VAW Bigyang Wakas, Ngayon na ang Oras!”

Held yearly from 25 November to 12 December, this year’s theme highlights the urgency of the “UNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines” advocacy in line with the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the signing of Republic Act No. 9262 also known as the “Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.”

In order to promote a #VAWfreePH workplace, FSI conducted a short program on 12 December 2024 which included a briefer of the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW, a short video featuring El Gamma Penumbra’s shadow performance of the song “Babae, Lumaban Ka!”,   #VowToEndVAW Commitment Board, and an oath ceremony pledging one’s commitment to end VAW participated by the men and women of FSI.

Ms. Kaithlyn Baile, FSI’s Training Officer, sang her rendition of Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” to strengthen the call to continue fostering a culture of respect and safe spaces for all.

This activity is part of FSI’s Gender and Development Plan for the Year 2024, conducted by the Human Resource Management Section under its Learning and Development Programs for FSI personnel.

The Foreign Service Institute is the training and research office of the Department of Foreign Affairs. It was created under Presidential Decree No. 1060 and its role was expanded under Republic Act No. 7157.
