MANILA 08 April 2025 — The Department of Foreign Affairs Ladies Foundation (DFALF), led by its Chairperson Madame Pamela Manalo, visited the Philippines' first-ever women’s museum, the Tandang Sora Women’s Museum, on 27 March 2025, in celebration of National Women’s Month.

The museum, which was officially opened to the public only in February of this year, pays tribute to the countless women who have shaped the nation through courage, resilience, and leadership, such as revolutionaries Gregoria de Jesus and Teresa Magbanua, and feminist leaders Concepcion Felix de Calderon and Pura Villanueva Kalaw. Located beside the Tandang Sora National Shrine, the museum is a fitting homage to Melchora Aquino, the revered Mother of the Philippine Revolution, whose unwavering patriotism and service paved the way for generations of women to fight for their rights and contribute to nation-building.

The DFA Ladies explored artifacts and contemporary works significant to the evolution of women’s rights and other cultural contributions.  They also enjoyed the rich and interactive journey through HERstory, with exhibits of the babaylans from pre-colonial times to 2021 Nobel Peace Prize awardee Maria Ressa, that celebrate women and educate visitors, especially the younger generation, on how women’s empowerment has transformed the nation.

The DFALF is a non-profit organization committed to enriching the lives of the members of the Philippine Foreign Service, their families and the DFA community. END
