08 March 2017 WASHINGTON, D.C.--The Philippine Embassy launched its National Women’s Month at the Romulo Hall on February 27 as a lead-up to the International Women’s Day celebration on March 08.

This year’s theme, “We Make Change Work for Women,” captures the key foundations of partnership for change and full implementation of the Magna Carta of Women (Republic Act 9710).

“The Philippine Embassy joins the international community in celebrating women empowerment, and at the same time recognizes Filipino women as catalysts of positive change all over the world,” said Minister Patrick A. Chuasoto, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Philippine Embassy.

Mr. Raymond Salvana, Alternate Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point Officer of the Embassy, read the Philippine Government’s statement on Women’s Month to all Embassy personnel followed by an announcement of the events and activities lined up for the month of March.

This month, the Embassy will host events highlighting the role and contributions of women in various fields.

The Consular section will also set up a special lane for female applicants on March 08, International Women’s Day.

Philippine Proclamation No. 227 s. 1988 provides for the annual conduct of the National Women’s month celebration in March to recognize the contributions of Filipino women in the society. END
