27 October 2017 HONG KONG – In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in support for the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation (HKBCF), the Philippine Consulate General, led by Consul General Bernardita L. Catalla, participated in HKBCF’s “Pink Walk for Breast Health 2017” at The Peak.
Embarking on its 13th year, the Pink Walk is HKBCF’s annual flagship fundraising event.
More than two thousand participants dressed in pink, some with their children and pets, walked for 45 minutes to help raise awareness on the threat of breast cancer.
The Pink Walk traversed The Peak Circle Walk which started from Lugard Road near The Peak Tower. The Circle Walk winds around the highest point on Hong Kong Island, offering some of the best views.
Ms. Grace Chung, Senior Health Service Officer of HKBCF, noted that it was the first time that a consulate in Hong Kong took part in the Pink Walk.
HKBCF has been a longstanding partner of the Consulate in providing free breast screening and mammogram for OFWs in Hong Kong.
The Consulate’s participation was conducted under the auspices of its gender and development (GAD) program. END
