Cairo Womens Month 1

20 March 2017 – Filipinas in Egypt showed off their dance moves during a health and wellness fair dubbed “Sumayaw Para sa Kalusugan,” a joint project of the Philippine Embassy in Cairo and the Filipino community to celebrate National Women’s Month.

Aside from Zumba sessions, the event also offered free medical check-ups and blood sugar tests for attendees, sponsored by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

In keeping with the theme for the 2017 National Women’s Month, “We Make Change Work for Women”, Vice Consul Jahzeel Abihail G. Cruz noted that ensuring women’s health contributes to the overall well-being and empowerment of women. He also briefed participants about recent developments in Philippine legislation related to women, notably the progress on the Expanded Maternity Leave Law.
