DFA – Office of Public Diplomacy Conducts a Gender and Development Workshop and Seminar
13 December 2017 – The personnel of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Office of Public Diplomacy (OPD) led by Executive Director Charmaine Aviquivil conducted a Gender and Development (GAD) Workshop Seminar at Taal Vista Hotel, Tagaytay City on December 09-10 which aims to educate its personnel on gender sensitivity in the workplace.
The GAD Workshop Seminar was led by Ms. Lorelie S. Astera who is an expert in the field of gender and development. Ms. Astera was the head of the Technical Services Division of the Philippine Commission on Women from 2009-2011 and is a lecturer in the De La Salle – College of St. Benilde from 2012 up to this day. Ms. Astera also co-authored the book “Gender Mainstreaming in Public Sector Reform“ which was published in 2013.
The OPD participants, together with the lecturer Ms. Astera engaged in both intellectual and practical discourse on the subject of gender sensitivity in the workplace. During the workshop seminar, they also engaged in activities that would further enhance their knowledge and understanding on the subject matter.
At the end of the workshop seminar, the participants gained new insights on gender sensitivity. OPD thanked the speaker for her efforts to share her extensive experience and expertise on gender issues to its personnel.
Gender and Development Seminar Workshops are conducted by the DFA regularly to further enhance its employees performance and behavior in public service. END
