MANILA 26 June 2025 – Members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Philippines participated in the Commemoration of the 127th anniversary of Philippine independence held in Manila on 12 June 2025. This year’s theme, “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.” underscored the enduring significance of the country’s independence, the nation’s shared historical legacy, and its vision for a united and progressive future.

The morning program commenced with the flag-raising ceremony at the Philippine National Flagpole and the wreath-laying ceremony at the Rizal National Monument. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the solemn tribute to the national hero whose courage and sacrifice laid the foundation of Philippine sovereignty.

In his Independence Day address, President Marcos urged Filipinos to give more to the nation through unity, discipline, and patriotism, emphasizing that freedom must be safeguarded through collective effort and shared responsibility.

The commemorative ceremony continued with a civic-military parade at the Quirino Grandstand, showcasing the country’s military strength and cultural diversity through a display of walking contingents, ground and air assets, thematic floats, and festival performances.

Later in the afternoon, President Marcos and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos hosted the traditional Vin d’Honneur at the Malacañang Palace, attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps, senior government officials, and other distinguished guests. In his remarks, the President emphasized the Philippines’ commitment to peaceful diplomacy, international cooperation, and shared prosperity, while underscoring the country’s role as a reliable partner, trusted peacemaker, and innovative pathfinder.
