Signing of MOA Between the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Pacific Mall Corporation (PMC)

22 November 2017 LUCENA — In line with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s vision to bring consular services closer to the public, the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Pacific Mall Corporation (PMC) formally signed the renewal of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on November 08, for the PMC’s continued hosting of DFA-Regional Consular Office in Pacific Mall, Lucena City.

On behalf of Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano, the Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Concerns, Jose Luis G. Montales, signed the Memorandum of Agreement for the DFA, while Mr. Edward S. Gaisano (President, Pacific Mall Corporation) signed for PMC. The signing ceremony was also graced by officials of the Department and PMC.

In his message, Undersecretary Montales recognized the long-standing relationship with Pacific Mall Corporation, which commenced in 2005 when Pacific Mall Corporation first hosted RCO Lucena, as the very first mall-based consular office of the DFA. Undersecretary Montales conveyed the Department’s appreciation to the PMC, for its continued hosting of RCO Lucena, thus providing excellent consular services to our fellow “Kababayans,” particularly in Lucena and its nearby areas.                                  

For his part, Mr. Gaisano, President of the Pacific Mall Corporation, thanked the DFA for renewing its partnership with PMC, while noting that this endeavor will make consular services more accessible to the people of Lucena.

The MOA between the Department of Foreign Affairs and Pacific Mall Corporation, which is part of the Gaisano Group, provides for the rent-free hosting of DFA’s RCO Lucena by Pacific Mall under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. END
