DFA Consular Office La Union Participates Consultation on the Regional Development Plan’ Midterm Update

LA UNION 17 September 2019 — The Department of Foreign Affairs’ Consular Office (DFA CO) in La Union participated in the Regional Development Council’s (RDC) Consultation on the Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2017-2022 Midterm Update with about 80 representatives from different agencies in Region I on 22 August 2019 at the Hotel Ariana in Bauang, La Union.

The members of the Regional Development Council (RDC) in Region 1 were divided by sectors, namely Economic Development, Infrastructure Development, Social Development and Governance Development, for the breakout workshops.

DFA CO La Union was represented by its Regional Council Consultation Focal Person and Information Technology Officer Christian Kevin C. Gonzales, who joined the Social Development Sector with 15 members from Regional Line Agencies (RLAs) and Private Sector Representatives (PSRs).

National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region I Director Nestor G. Rillon presented the objectives of the Regional Consultation patterned under Executive Order No. 5: The Long-term Vision in the Philippines in 2040: A prosperous, middle-class society where no one is poor, a healthy and resilient society, a smart and innovative society and a high-trust society, to triple real per capita income, zero hunger, and zero poverty.

Director Rillon also presented the salient features of the draft Ilocos RDP 2017-2022 Midterm Updates and assessment of 2017-2019 Performance.

Fourth District of Pangasinan Congressman Christopher V. P. De Venecia graced the occasion and solicited the participation of the body in improving the policies and its constant implementation for the continuous development of the region.

The workshop focused on the proposed priority strategies such as human capital development under skills development, health and nutrition, education, and labor.

Further, the group identified indicators which should be populated and for the council’s attention and appropriate action. END
