DFA Consular Office in Tacloban Participates in 3rd Meeting of Regional Census Coordinating Board for 2020 Census on Population and Housing

TACLOBAN CITY 03 September 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office (CO) in Tacloban participated in the 3rd Meeting of the Regional Census Coordination Board (RCCB) for the 2020 Census on Population and Housing (CPH) via Zoom video conferencing on 28 August 2020.
The Acting Chairperson of RCCB VIII, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Officer-In-Charge-Regional Director Meylene C. Rosales, headed the virtual meeting attended by over 20 representatives from various government agencies and private institutions.
The meeting was convened to highlight the 2020 CPH’s updates on its preparatory activities such as recruitment of enumerators and health personnel, delivery of enumeration materials to municipalities and status on the conduct of enumeration training. The status of the assistance and support of the Consular Office in Tacloban and other RCCB member agencies were also discussed and reviewed.
Other agenda items focused on the challenges that will be confronted by field enumerators due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2020 Census on Population and Housing will be conducted by the Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) on 01 September 2020. It aims to provide government executives, policy and decision makers, and planners with updated population and housing data, which shall be used as bases for their social and economic development plans, policies, and programs and in the allocation of resources at various geographic levels.
