DFA Presides 29th ASEAN Matters Technical Board Meeting

PASAY CITY 13 October 2020 — Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary of ASEAN Affairs Junever M. Mahilum-West presided over the 29th ASEAN Matters Technical Board (AMTB) Meeting on 13 October 2020 via video conference.

The Meeting discussed Philippine priorities in ASEAN, the ongoing ASEAN initiatives to address COVID-19, as well as the preparations for the 37th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits scheduled next month.

An exchange of views was held after the presentations from the ASEAN Community Pillars lead agencies and the Department of Foreign Affairs, providing agency representatives an opportunity to discuss national priority issues.

Over 90 participants from 33 partner agencies representing the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC), ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Pillars attended the Meeting. This is the first AMTB Meeting held online.

The AMTB serves as an important venue for exchanges in information and updates between the DFA and its partner agencies. END
