Emergency Assistance Packs for Typhoon Odette Victims Arrive from Japan
PASAY CITY, 24 December 2021– The Japanese Government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) delivered emergency assistance packs to the Philippines in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette (Rai).
In the arrival ceremony yesterday at the NAIA Compound, Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Koshikawa Kazuhiko conveyed Japan’s commitment to partnering with PH in disaster relief assistance. Generators, sleeping mattresses, sleeping pads, dome tents, jerry cans, and plastic sheets were brought in from the JICA storage in Singapore. Department of Social Welfare and Development Director Emmanuel Privado received the donated goods.
Ms. Myca M. Fischer, Acting Head of Office of the Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs, represented the DFA at the arrival ceremony for the donation, and conveyed the appreciation of the Philippine government for Japan’s assistance towards those affected by Typhoon Odette.
Japan remains to be the Philippines’ top development partner. Bilateral assistance from Japan in support of the government’s socio-economic recovery efforts has been consistent and generous. END
