DFA Mindanao Encourage Joining the Foreign Service in Wednesdays Media Forum

DAVAO CITY 14 October 2022 – Director Eric R. Aquino of the Department of Foreign Affairs Mindanao joined the Wednesdays Media Forum panel on 12 October 2022 at Habi at Kape, Abreeza Corporate Center in Davao City and discussed the requirements, procedures and other pertinent information on the upcoming 2023 Foreign Service Officers Exam (FSOE 2023).

The weekly event, which runs from April to December 2022, is organized by the Mindanao Development Authority, in partnership with Davao business writers and aims to provide an alternative platform for discussion of Mindanao development initiatives and other business-related news and topics. The forum also serves as a venue to promote the agencies’ services, advocacies and upcoming activities.

Ms. Iris Mae Quizo, MinDA Public Relations and Ms. Rose Bernales of SMNI facilitated the forum. Radyo Pilipinas, Bombo Radyo, Sunstar, and PTV 4 were among the media outlets that covered the event.

During the forum, Director Aquino encouraged qualified individuals from Region 11 to submit their applications to FSOE 2023 and have the opportunity to join the foreign service. Director Aquino said he hopes that more Dabawenyos like himself will consider joining the foreign service, not only to be posted abroad to represent the Philippines and promote Philippine interests, but to also help our fellowmen, especially distressed Filipinos. He noted that to date six Dabawenyos have joined the DFA as foreign service officers.

Director Aquino was joined by Ms. Deolly L. Roque, Chief of the Department of Trade and Industry XI, Consumer Protection Division who discussed the Consumer Welfare Month and price monitoring updates, and Director Nilo Geroche of the Department of Energy-Mindanao Field Office who talked about the series of adjustments of petroleum prices, its impact on the economy and other DOE updates.
