Philippines Delegation to the 5th Round of IPEF Negotiations.

BANGKOK 26 September 2023 – Representatives from the DFA together with representatives from various other agencies, joined the 5th round of negotiations for the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) from 10-16 September in Bangkok.

IPEF was launched in 2022 by the United States alongside Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. IPEF aims to strengthen cooperation, stability, prosperity, development, and peace within the Indo-Pacific region.

IPEF discussions are focused on the pillars of (1) Trade, (2) Supply Chains, (3) Clean Economy, Decarbonization, and Infrastructure, and (4) Tax and Anti-Corruption. Through the work done in the four pillars of IPEF, the framework seeks to advance resilience, sustainability, inclusiveness, economic growth, fairness, and competitiveness for members. END
