PASAY 20 November 2023 – Featuring an impressive gathering of more than 150 booths representing 42 participating countries and 31 Philippines’ Best exhibitors, the International Bazaar 2023 transformed today Forum Tents 2 and 3 of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City into a vibrant tapestry of cultures.
The International Bazaar 2023 was co-organized by the International Bazaar Foundation, Inc (IBF), in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Diplomatic and Consular Corps of the Philippines, and Spouses of the Heads of Mission (SHOM).
As an annual tradition marking the beginning of the holiday season, the International Bazaar serves as a platform for cultural exchange, connecting the Diplomatic and Consular Corps communities with the general public and facilitating the promotion of cultures, tourism, and cuisines. All proceeds from the event will fund various IBF and SHOM projects, supporting marginalized communities and providing educational opportunities to indigent scholars.
Taguig City Mayor Maria Laarni “Lani” Cayetano, who is a former chairperson of the IBF, graced the event as the Guest of Honor, joining current IBF Chairperson Madame Pamela Louise Manalo, IBF President Consul Betty Ang and the Spouses of the Heads of Missions (SHOM) Chair for IBF Arkaduisz Tracz, in exploring the array of products presented by the exhibitors.
“This gathering is more than just a showcase of cultures; it is a beacon of hope and positive change. The fruits of this wonderful initiative support various charitable causes and communities in our country, embodying the true spirit of compassion and global citizenship,” Mayor Cayetano said in her remarks.
In her opening remarks, IBF Chairperson Madame Pamela Louise Manalo stated that “there is unity in diversity, and during these fast-changing times, we are reminded of the strength that derives from coming together for a common cause.”
Renowned Filipino visual artist Manuel Baldemor contributed to the event’s philanthropy by generously donating his 2022 acrylic on canvas painting titled “Pasko Filipino '' for a silent auction. The winning bid of Php 300,000 will be directed towards the charitable initiatives of the Foundation and the medical benefits of the DFAMPCI-Members Retirement Unit.
Established in 1966, the IBF, now in its 57th year, remains committed to its mission of uplifting disadvantaged sectors through charitable activities while fostering stronger bonds within the diplomatic community in Manila. END
