08 July 2014 – The Department of Foreign Affairs has issued Alert Level 3 (voluntary repatriation phase) for Afghanistan due to the heightened tensions in that country following the conduct of the presidential elections last June 14.

Alert Level 3 is declared when violent disturbances or external aggression occurs in a limited area of a country. With this announcement, Filipinos in Afghanistan are strongly encouraged to volunteer to return to the Philippines.

The Philippine Government maintains a total ban on the deployment of Filipino workers to Afghanistan.

The DFA continues to monitor the political and security developments in Afghanistan. END
