BERLIN 05 April 2025 – The Philippine Delegation to the 3rd Global Disability Summit (GDS2025) held last 02-03 April 2025, underscored the Philippines’ commitment to advancing the rights, wellbeing, and full development of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The Philippines highlighted its commitment to promote inclusivity through the implementation of programs geared towards promoting the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in various areas, such as digital information and communication, employment, poverty alleviation and disability-inclusive social protection, disaster risk reduction and humanitarian action, accessible infrastructure, statistics and data collection, education, health equity and political participation.
The Philippine Delegation, led by Department of Social Welfare and Development Assistant Secretary Elaine F. Fallarcuna and National Council on Disability Affairs Executive Director Glenda Relova, highlighted the country’s work in integrating holistic PWD rights and support for their and their family’s development. The Philippine delegation also included officials from the Department of Health Department of Education, National Anti-Povery Commission, Philippine Sports Commission, as well as the Philippine Embassy in Berlin. Their participation in GDS2025 facilitated knowledge sharing on international strategies and programs to promote inclusivity for persons with disabilities (PWDs) and their development.
Hosted by the governments of Germany and Jordan in collaboration with the International Disability Alliance, the 3rd GDS brought together government leaders, disability advocates, and experts to address critical issues impacting persons with disabilities globally. END.
