30 July 2015 - In line with the celebration of the 37th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week from July 17 to 23, with its theme “Health and Wellness Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities Toward Inclusive Development for All”, the Office of Personnel and Administrative Services (OPAS) of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), in cooperation with the Leonard Cheshire Foundation Inc., conducted a seminar on Disability Sensitivity Training for DFA personnel on July 22 at the CMOAS Conference Room, DFA main building.
The welcome remarks were delivered by Undersecretary Linglingay F. Lacanlale and the closing remarks by OPAS Assistant Secretary Noel Servigon.
The Resource Speakers were from Leonard Cheshire Disability Philippines Foundation Inc. (LCDPFI), a non-profit and non-government disability organization that promotes and protects the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs). The team was led by Ms. Hazel Joy D. Borja, LCDPFI Program Manager.
Mr. Rafael Torralba of the Office of Consular Affairs also gave a talk on communicating with people who are hard of hearing.
The DFA remains committed to increasing awareness and sensitizing its personnel to the needs of persons with disabilities. END
