18 March 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in Yangon, in partnership with the Ramos Peace and Development Foundation (RPDEV) and the Myanmar Institute for Strategic and International Studies (MISIS), organized on March 13, a talk by former President Fidel V. Ramos on Challenges to Peace and Development: The Philippine Experience.
Former President Fidel V. Ramos stressed on the importance of regional cooperation in promoting peace and development. Drawing on the Philippine experience, he said, cooperation with neighboring countries such as Japan was key to the country’s economic growth under his administration. Regional cooperation, he noted, is more important nowadays as the problems faced by countries are becoming transboundary in nature.
The talk was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ASEAN diplomats, and students and lecturers from various universities. END
