23 April 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Mexico reconstituted the Centro De Estudios y Cooperacion Mexico-Filipinas (Center for Mexico-Philippine Studies and Cooperation) during a meeting held on April 10 at the Embassy to further promote historical and cultural relations between the two countries.
The Center for Mexico-Philippine Studies and Cooperation is a non-profit organization created in 2004 to enhance Philippine-Mexican relations. It was spearheaded by Dr. Cristina Barron Soto, a Professor at the Department of International Relations, Iberoamerican University; and by Philippine Honorary Consul to Acapulco Dr. Mario De La O.
Among the activities lined up for this year include painting exhibits by world-renowned Filipino painter Manuel Baldemor in two separate venues, symposia, lectures and exhibits about the Manila-Acapulco Galleon trade.
The group also aims to revitalize existing sister-city agreements between the Philippines and Mexico.
Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Catalino R. Dilem, Jr. assured the group of the Embassy´s close collaboration in all their activities. END
