Public Advisory: On the COVID-19 Outbreak in Iran

26 February 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the Philippine Embassy in Tehran, advises all Filipinos residing in the Islamic Republic of Iran to observe and comply with the advisories from the Ministry of Health and Medical Education (MoHME) and directives issued by local Iranian health authorities, and cooperate with efforts to quell the further spread of the 2019 novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

To date, there is no report of Filipinos in Iran infected by COVID-19.

Filipinos in Iran are reminded to follow the DOH advisory on preventive measures, such as: hand hygiene, avoiding symptomatic individuals, proper coughing etiquette, avoiding contact with farm animals, consuming enough water, cooking food thoroughly and immediately consulting a doctor when experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. Also, avoid unnecessary travel and public gatherings for the time being.

Further, the Embassy continues to closely monitor the development of the said outbreak in Iran and is coordinating with the Filipino communities to ensure the safety and welfare of our countrymen. END
