03 August 2016 – Russian Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Igor Khovaev paid a courtesy call on the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Perfecto R. Yasay, Jr.
During the courtesy call, Ambassador Khovaev stated that Russia considers the Philippines an important and promising partner in the Asia-Pacific region and underscored Russia’s commitment to substantially enhancing the bilateral relations between the Philippines and the Russian Federation.
Ambassador Khovaev also apprised the Secretary of the commemorative activities lined up this year in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Philippines and the Russian Federation and the 20th Anniversary of ASEAN-Russia Dialogue Partnership. Such activities include the upcoming Days of Russian Culture in the Philippines in October 2016, where Russian artists have been invited to perform in the Philippines.
The courtesy call of the Russian Ambassador on the Secretary also provided an occasion to discuss greater collaboration between the Philippines and Russia in the areas of trade and investment, cultural cooperation, anti-drug trafficking, and defense cooperation, among others. END
