OUMWA 1

01 September 2016 – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte met with the first batch of OFWs who arrived in Manila from Dammam Airport at around 10:00 a.m. on August 31. Together with him in meeting the 128 OFWs were Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto R. Yasay, Jr. and Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.

The repatriation of these 128 OFWs who are all formerly employed by the Mohammad Al-Mojil Group (MMG) company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was arranged and paid for by the Philippine government through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). The DFA will pursue in the Saudi labor tribunals the claim for unpaid wages and benefits of these 128 MMG workers through Al Besher Law Office, which is the retained law firm of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh.
