12 October 2016 — Members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the ASEAN States of the German Bundestag, led by MP Thomas Gambke, called on Secretary of Foreign Affairs Perfecto R. Yasay, Jr. as part of their three-day visit to the Philippines on October 06.

During the call, the Secretary Yasay and the German MPs discussed various issues of mutual interest such as the Philippines´ objectives as the incoming chair of the ASEAN and the themes of its hosting, the West Philippine Sea, the current government’s campaign against illegal drugs, and areas of possible cooperation wherein Germany can further engage and actively contribute to the Asian region. 

Other visiting members of the German ASEAN Parliamentary Friendship Group include MP Michael Fuchs, MP Caren Lay, MP Petra Ernstberger, MP Elviara Drobinski-Weiß, and MP Erwin Rüddel.  END.
