28 October 2016 — The Regional Consular Office in Dumaguete, the 20th Regional Consular Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs, celebrated its first anniversary with Dumaguete city local officials led by Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo with City Councilors Karissa Faye Tolentino, Michael M. Bandal, Alan Cordova and Joe Kenneth Arbas. Among the main partners in attendance were Robinsons Manager Grace Lim and Ms. Ruby Flores, Branch Manager, Landbank Dumaguete. Ambassador Dr. MacArthur Corsino (retired), who kicked off the event with a prayer, was accompanied by his wife, Mme. Bernadette Corsino. Ms. Jennifer C. Tilos, Dumaguete Public Information Agency also joined the celebration.
Officer in Charge Tita R. Rebollos warmly welcomed the guests and expressed her appreciation for the support of its partners and the city government. In concluding the event, the video message of Office of Consular Affairs Assistant Secretary Cimafranca was played highlighting the important role of RCO Dumaguete in bringing efficient and quicker consular services closer to the people of Dumaguete and its neighboring municipalities. Assistant Secretary Cimafranca expressed appreciation to Robinsons Land for its partnership with DFA in this regard.
In congratulating DFA Dumaguete for its one year anniversary, Mayor Remollo, who is the architect of Dumaguete master plan since his first term as Mayor of Dumaguete from 1998 to 2001 reaffirmed his plan to establish a government center with the vision to relocate DFA in that center.
Mayor Remollo also inspired RCO personnel and guests on his master plan for Dumaguete specifically the provision of transport services and establishment of appropriate terminal in the center to ferry government personnel. In this connection, a mono rail is envisaged. END
