10 November 2016 – The Philippines and the United Kingdom held their 6th High Level Meeting (HLM) in Manila on November 08, reaffirming the strong friendship and partnership between the two nations.

The Philippine delegation was led by Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Enrique A. Manalo while the British delegation was led by Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Director for Asia Pacific Stephen Lillie. Also in attendance were DFA Assistant Secretary for European Affairs Maria Cleofe Natividad, Philippine Ambassador to the UK Evan P. Garcia and the British Ambassador to the Philippines Asif Ahmad.

During the meeting, both sides discussed a wide range of issues affecting bilateral relations including political-security, economic, socio-cultural and consular cooperation.   The two delegations also exchanged views on regional and global issues such as the South China Sea, Brexit, and ASEAN, among others.

The two countries are also celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of PH-UK diplomatic relations this year. END
