18 February 2017 MANILA — Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto R. Yasay, Jr. will host and chair the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat (AMM Retreat) in Boracay, Philippines on February 21.
The AMM Retreat is the first meeting of ASEAN Foreign Ministers under the Philippines’ Chairmanship of ASEAN this year, which coincides with the regional bloc’s commemoration of its 50th Founding Anniversary. The AMM Retreat will be preceded by the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM).
ASEAN Foreign Ministers and senior officials from nine (9) member countries namely, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam and the Secretary General of ASEAN will attend the meeting.
The AMM Retreat will discuss ASEAN Community Building, including implementation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and international and regional issues of common concern to ASEAN.
The previous AMM Retreat was held in Vientiane, Laos in 2016. END
