WFP Country Director Calls on Secretary Cayetano

16 June 2017 MANILA – Mr. Praveen Agrawal, World Food Programme (WFP) Country Director in the Philippines, called on Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano on June 14. The WFP official handed over to the Secretary the letters of WFP Executive Director David Beasley, congratulating the Secretary on his appointment, and informing about the nomination of Mr. Stephen Gluning as the incoming WFP Country Director in the Philippines.

Mr. Agrawal, who has been WFP Country Director in the Philippines since 2013, also expressed his gratitude to the Secretary and to the Philippine Government for the opportunity to work with the Filipino people, in furtherance of WFP’s goals of food security and humanitarian protection. Agrawal will end his tour of duty in the Philippines in July 2017.

Secretary Cayetano noted the strong partnership between the Philippine Government and WFP, and thanked Mr. Agrawal for the humanitarian assistance extended to the Philippines, during the past years until the present, particularly to typhoon- and conflict-affected areas in the country.

The WFP is the food assistance arm of the UN system and seeks to promote food security and disaster risk reduction management through its various programs and projects. END
