CPR Meeting Kicks Off ASEAN Meetings in Manila
01 August 2017 - The Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) will meet on 02 August 2017 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila, kicking off the 50th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and related meetings being hosted by the Philippines.
Ambassador Elizabeth P. Buensuceso, Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN and Chair of the CPR, said that the meeting will finalize some outcome documents for ASEAN’s meetings with its Dialogue Partners, including the revised implementation plan for the ASEAN-Japan Vision Statement and the ASEAN Plus Three Cooperation Work Plan.
Ambassador Buensuceso added that the CPR will also discuss preparations for outcome documents and initiatives for the 31st ASEAN ASEAN Summit and related summits in November 2017, including the 12th East Asia Summit and the 20th ASEAN Plus Three Summit.
The ASEAN Plus Three is composed of all ASEAN Member States, China, Japan and Republic of Korea. The East Asia Summit is composed of all ASEAN Member States, Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russia and the United States.
Based in Jakarta, the CPR is composed of the Ambassadors to ASEAN of all 10 ASEAN Member States. The CPR deals with day-to-day issues in ASEAN and coordinates ASEAN’s external relations with the Ambassadors of Dialogue Partners and other external parties. END
