Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Minister of Brunei FM meet on the Sidelines of the 50th AMM

04 August 2017 - Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano met with H.E. Dato Pehin Lim Jock Seng, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei Darussalam on the sidelines of the 50th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM) in Manila.

The two leaders discussed bilateral issues including cooperation in the energy sector, Halal industry, Islamic banking, regional connectivity, such as the BIMP-EAGA initiative, and the welfare of the 22,000 Filipino workers in Brunei.  They also exchanged views on ASEAN matters as well as developments in the region.

Exchange of officials at the highest level have taken place between the two countries.  President Rodrigo Détente visited Brunei in October 2016, while His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah undertook a visit to the Philippines last April.  END
