No Filipinos Hurt in Italy Quake
22 August 2017 - The Department of Foreign Affairs today reported that no Filipinos were among the victims of an earthquake that struck a southern Italian island on Monday evening.
In its report to Manila, the Philippine Embassy in Rome said the temblor in the island of Ischia, a popular tourist destination off the Tyrrhenian Sea, left at least two dead and dozens other injured.
In his report to Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano, Ambassador to Rome Domingo Nolasco said that the Embassy is continuously monitoring the situation in coordination with the Philippine honorary consul in Naples.
Ambassador Nolasco assured Secretary Cayetano the Embassy is ready to extend all possible consular assistance to any Filipino who may have been affected by the earthquake. END
