No Filipinos Hurt in Train Crash in Philadelphia

24 August 2017 — Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano today offered prayers for the speedy recovery of more than 30 people injured in a train crash in Philadelphia that the Department of Foreign Affairs said involved no Filipinos.

"We thank the Lord that no Filipino was among the victims of the accident," Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano said as he prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.

In a report to Manila, the Philippine Consulate General in New York said initial information it was able to gather indicate that there was no Filipino among the 33 people injured in the incident.

Consul General Ma. Theresa De Vega said the incident involved a high speed train that crashed into a stationary train car in Upper Darby, around 10 miles west of Philadelphia.

Consul General De Vega assured Secretary Cayetano that the Consulate General in New York remains in touch with authorities and stands ready in case any Filipino is reported to be in need of assistance.
