RCO La Union Joins the ASEAN Youth Forum

19 September 2017 LA UNION - RCO La Union joined the ASEAN Youth Forum of the Philippine Information Agency Region I which was held on September 15 at the Ilocandia Hall, Oasis Country Resort and Hotel, City of San Fernando, La Union. The said event was simultaneous with ASEAN Provincial Competitions on Poster-Slogan Making for Elementary, Quiz Bee for High School and Essay Writing for the College Levels and attended by about 300 students from Ilocos Region, La Union and Pangasinan.

Chairperson of National Youth Commission, Undersecretary Cariza Y. Seguerra, was the Guest of Honor and Speaker on the said event.

Guest Speakers on the three Pillars of ASEAN were: DFA RCO La Union’s Officer-in-Charge, Estellita V. Casuga who presented an overview of the ASEAN Political-Security Community, DTI’s Ms. Joyce Segue-Sabado discussed on ASEAN Economic Forum and DSWD’s Ms. Anniely Ferrer talked on ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community.

Other Guest Speakers were: PopCom’s Ms. Cristina Martinez talked on the Teenage Pregnancy in the region, PDEA’s Bismarck Bengwayan discussed on the ill effects of illegal drugs to the youth and NEDA’s Ms. Vida Karna Bacani presented the Five-Year Regional Development Plan 2017-22 emphasizing the social development sector particularly on education.
