Regional Consular Office in Puerto Princesa Participates in 32nd International Coastal Clean Up

04 October 2017 PUERTO PRINCESA - In line with the Department’s vision of securing a world free from serious environmental degradation, the personnel of Regional Consular Office (RCO) Puerto Princesa headed by Officer-in-Charge Liza Jane V. Estalilla participated in the 32nd International Coastal Clean Up on September 16.
Some 3,762 participants from other government agencies, schools and other volunteer groups were gathered for the Opening Ceremonies at 5:00 a.m. at the People’s Amphitheater in Mendoza Park and headed towards different coastal barangays of Puerto Princesa to collect marine litter.
The project was spearheaded by the City Government of Puerto Princesa – Oplan Linis Program to affirm its commitment to protect its natural resources by engaging its local community in preserving the health of the ocean and water resources. The International Coastal Clean Up is held in Puerto Princesa every year to promote and sustain greater environmental stewardship.
A total of thirty-six (36) tons of marine litter were gathered by the participants in this year’s coastal clean-up that covered thirteen (13) coastal barangays in Puerto Princesa. END
