PHL Hosts ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting, Discusses Preparations for the November Summit
Philippine Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Enrique Manalo chairs the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on 11 October 2017 at the Philippine International Convention Center. ASEAN Foreign Affairs Senior Officials will meet together with their counterparts from the economic and socio-cultural sectoral bodies tomorrow, October 12th.
11 October 2017 – Senior Officials from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) gather at the Philippine International Convention Center on 11 to 13 October 2017 to discuss preparations for the 31st ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is convening the Joint Consultative Meeting (JCM) to deliberate on the proposed outcome documents to be adopted or issued by the ASEAN Leaders during their Summit in Manila in November. Philippine Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Enrique Manalo will chair the Meeting, which will also consider the logistic preparations for the Summit.
The JCM is a cross-sector body composed of Senior Officials from the Ministries in charge of foreign affairs, economy and socio-cultural affairs of the ASEAN Member States. Undersecretary Manalo will be joined by Department of Social Welfare and Development Undersecretary Florita Villar, Department of Trade and Industry Assistant Secretary Anna Maria Diaz-Robeniol, and Philippine Permanent Representative to ASEAN, Ambassador Elizabeth Buensuceso.
After the JCM, the ASEAN foreign affairs officials will meet with their counterparts from China, Japan and the Republic of Korea under the ASEAN Plus Three Senior Officials Meeting. They will also meet with the senior officials of the East Asia Summit, which includes Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, and the United States of America.
The APT and EAS Senior Officials Meeting will discuss preparations, including the outcome documents, for the 20th ASEAN Plus Three Summit and 12th East Asia Summit in November. END
