Secretary Cayetano Pays Final Respects to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand

27 October 2017 — Secretary of Foreign Affairs Alan Peter S. Cayetano represented President Rodrigo R. Duterte at the Royal Cremation of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej at a ceremony held on 26 October 2017 at the Royal Pavilion, Sanam Luang Grounds in Bangkok, Thailand.

Secretary Cayetano and Mayor Lani Cayetano joined the Royal Thai Family, the Thai people and other foreign dignitaries in paying a final tribute to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Thousands of people took part in the ceremony to pay their final respects and farewell to King Bhumibol, who passed away on 13 October 2016 during the 70th year of His Majesty's reign.

"His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej was the Father of a nation, well-loved and revered for his seventy years of reign characterized by wisdom, compassion and remarkable progress." Secretary Cayetano said.

The five-day Royal Cremation Ceremony marks the end of a nationwide mourning period in Thailand which started on 14 October 2016. END
