DFA’s Filipino-Chinese Art Exhibit Launched

07 November 2017 MANILA — The Office of Asian and Pacific Affairs officially unveiled the exhibit entitled “A Celebration of Filipino-Chinese Art: Wong x Patricio x Mendoza” at the DFA lobby today.

Produced in collaboration with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Associations of the Philippines, the exhibit features the paintings of Mr. Wong Shui Loong, Mr. Pierre Patricio, and Ms. Iolanthe Elaine Mendoza.

Mr. Wong’s works are impressionist landscapes of both the Philippines and China, Mr. Patricio’s paintings feature Filipina women with Philippine flora and fauna, while Ms. Mendoza’s creations showcase traditional Chinese watercolors of birds and seasonal flowers.

In his opening remarks, Undersecretary Enrique A. Manalo said that the exhibit is an opportunity for Filipino and Chinese people to understand each other’s aspirations and ways of life through their art.

The launch was well-attended by both the government and private sectors as well as the diplomatic corps. The exhibit will stay on display in the DFA lobby until November 10. END
