AICHR Promotes Human Rights in ASEAN

13 November 2017 - The ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) has initiated various activities throughout 2017 to promote human rights to the peoples of the region.

Through the initiative of AICHR Philippines, AICHR published a compendium combining the AICHR: What You Need to Know, AICHR Terms of Reference, and ASEAN Human Rights Declaration booklets into one easy-to-read booklet.

To reach a wider audience, AICHR Philippines produced an animated video based on the AICHR: What Yu Need to Know booklet. The said video has been uploaded to the social media channels of the ASEAN Secretariat.

AICHR collaborated with the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN to launch the first ASEAN Youth Video Competition with the theme ASEAN Against Trafficking: Humans Are Not for Sale. In the Philippines, more than 40 aspiring young filmmakers submitted entries, and Carlo Catu’s Casting was selected as the Philippine entry to the regional competition.

Chhorn Soklin from Cambodia was adjudged the regional winner for the video Nightmare, while Muhammad Asraf Bin Ab Aziz from Malaysia got the most number of likes for the video Nasri, which took home the People’s Choice Award. END
