25 November 2017 MANILA – Undersecretary Enrique A. Manalo and Swedish State Secretary for EU Affairs and Trade Oscar Stenström, and their respective delegations, met in Manila for the Philippines-Sweden Political Dialogue, which falls under the ambit of the political consultations mechanism between the Philippines and Sweden. This is the fourth time that both countries have met to discuss developments in both countries and in their respective regions as well as future directions in the bilateral relationship.

During the dialogue, both sides discussed a wide range of issues, including general political and economic developments in both countries; pending bilateral agreements; possible cooperative activities in various fields of endeavor, notably trade and investment; the Philippine chairmanship of ASEAN; Brexit; and other regional and international issues.

Mr. Stenström also headed the Swedish delegation to the Philippines Sweden Airport Collaboration on November 21 to 22. The collaboration is in line with commitments that Swedish Minister for Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg and Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade reached during the former’s visit to the Philippines in 2016 that coincided with the re-opening of the Swedish Embassy in Manila.
