Kapitan DFA Soft Opening Exhibit

OUSCCS 1

17 November 2017 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the efforts of the DFA Archives Office, launched its KAPITAN DFA Soft Opening Exhibit held on 06-17 November 2017 at the DFA Archives Hall.

The theme of the exhibit, “Pasaporte: Pag-asa at Pangarap ng Bawat Filipino”, illustrated the significance of Philippine passport to every Filipino. A passport symbolizes Philippine identity, and provides holders full protection of the law. It encompasses the hopes and dreams of all Filipinos for a better life and a chance to represent the Philippines abroad. Furthermore, it is a source of pride for all Filipinos for the international recognition it has garnered for the country.

Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Concerns Jose Luis G. Montales, together with Office of Consular Affairs Assistant Secretary Frank R. Cimafranca, led the ribbon-cutting which marked the launch of the exhibit. The exhibit illustrated colorful and meaningful posters emphasizing the role of the DFA in providing quality and heartfelt service to the Filipino people—most importantly overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). It serves as a reminder of the Department’s mandate to protect the rights, and promote the welfare and interest of Filipinos overseas. The Department recognizes the OFWs’ role as modern day heroes, and their sacrifices which supported the Philippine society and its economy for several years now.

The DFA Archives exhibit was made possible through the participation of the Office of the Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Concerns, OCA, Office of Public Diplomacy (OPD), and Department Legislative Liaison Unit (DLLU). END
