The Philippines and Malta Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Bilateral Relations
22 January 2018 MANILA – Non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the Philippines, H.E. John Aquilina, calls on Undersecretary for Policy Enrique A. Manalo last 08 January. The two officials highlighted the importance of PH-Malta relations and reaffirmed commitment to expand bilateral engagement, specifically in the fields of labor and economic cooperation. The Undersecretary also conveyed appreciation for the assistance extended by the Republic of Malta to the Philippines in the aftermath of Haiyan in 2013 and the evacuation of Filipinos from Libya in 2014. Ambassador Aquilina presented his credentials to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on 09 January 2018. PH-Malta diplomatic relations were established on 13 June 1949. In 2019, the two countries will commemorate 70 years of relations.
