DFA Team Conducts Briefing for the Philippine Honorary Consuls Based in Europe
12 February 2018 MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs Team, composed of officials from the Office of the Undersecretary for International Economic Relations (OUIER), Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs (OUMWA), Office of European Affairs (OEA), Office of Consular Affairs (OCA) and Human Resources Management Office (HRMO), conducted a briefing for Philippine Honorary Consuls based in Europe on 08 February in Manila.
The DFA Team briefed the participants on various topics, including Philippine economy and culture, the dynamic and strategic partnership between the Philippines and Europe, as well as consular and administrative matters. The status of Overseas Filipinos in Europe was another subject of lively exchange. The Honorary Consuls provided their insights on cooperation areas to develop.
A Spouses' Program which included a tour of Tagaytay also ran parallel with the Honorary Consuls' briefing.
This event is part of the “European Honorary Consuls Home Office Consultation and Country Appreciation Visit” which is being conducted in partnership with the Department of Tourism and the Department of Trade and Industry. The participants also visited tourist spots in El Nido, Palawan and will visit business project sites inside the Clark Freeport Zone.
This Visit aims to present a practical portrait of the Philippines as a tourist and investment destination for Europeans. The Honorary Consul participants remain committed in enhancing diplomatic, economic and cultural exchanges between the Philippines and Europe. END
