IAEA Director General Visits the DFA
12 February 2018 — Acting Secretary of Foreign Affairs Jose Luis Montales receives Director General Yukiya Amano (2nd from the left) is the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). DG Amano is visiting the Philippines to meet science and energy officials to discuss the county’s technical cooperation with the IAEA that began in 1976 and has to date resulted in 125 projects involving nuclear science and technology applicants in the fields of education, health, agriculture, industry, and energy. DG Amano, known for his platform ‘Atoms for peace and development,’ was elected to a 3rd term as Director General during the 61sr General Conference of the IAEA that the Philippines presided. Joining in the call are Philippine Permanent Representative-designate to the IAEA Maria Cleofe Natividad and Philippines Nuclear Research Director Carlo A. Arcilla.
