15 February 2018 — The remains of the Filipina domestic worker murdered in Kuwait will be repatriated on 15 February 2018, the Department of Foreign Affairs said. The remains of Joanna Demafelis will arrive in Manila on Friday.
On Wednesday afternoon, Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Rene Villa went to Al-Sabah Hospital to view her remains as part of the Philippine Embassy’s preparations for the repatriation. Ambassador Villa said he has again been assured by Kuwaiti authorities that they are doing their best to locate and arrest the Lebanese employer of Demafelis and his Syrian wife for her murder.
Ambassador Villa said that Kuwaiti authorities are shocked and angered by the murder and vowed to bring those responsible to justice. END
