Secretary Cayetano Participates in ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in Preparation for the 32nd ASEAN Summit

SINGAPORE 27 April 2018 — Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano joined other ASEAN Minister for a series of meeting in Singapore prior to the 32nd ASEAN Summit which will be held on 28 April 2018.

Secretary Cayetano participated in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the 17th ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting, and the 21st ASEAN bodies, and endorsed a number of Outcome Documents for the ASEAN Leaders’ consideration.

The Foreign Ministers likewise discussed the member countries’ collective efforts towards making ASEAN a Resilient and Innovative Community for 2018, as well as progress made toward ASEAN Community Building.

Secretary Cayetano reaffirmed the Philippines’ support for ASEAN Community Building that would deliver meaningful benefits to its people. He also commended the progress made in the implementation of the APSC Blueprint 2025, and recognized the importance of deepening and promoting cooperation among the ASEAN Sectoral Bodies and Pillars in order to fully implement the action lines of the Blueprint, as well as raising awareness of ASEAN’s people-centered and people-oriented Community that improves the lives of the Association’s ordinary citizens.

Secretary Cayetano will join President Rodrigo Roa Duterte tomorrow for the 32nd ASEAN Summit. END
