Muscat Town Hall Meet Welcomes DFA Undersecretary Arriola

MUSCAT 03 May 2018 – A Filipino Community Town Hall Meeting was held in Muscat on 27 April 2018 with Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Sarah Lou Y. Arriola, as guest speaker at the Radisson Blu Hotel.

In her remarks, Undersecretary Arriola highlighted the readiness of the Philippine government to assist OFWs and Filipino nationals in distress. She emphasized the government’s current mandate and thrust in upholding the rights and welfare of Filipino nationals abroad. She welcomed the opportunity to meet the Filipino Community in Oman and gave the assurance that the government is ready to listen to their concerns.

The Philippine Ambassador to Oman, H.E. Narciso T. Castañeda, cited the importance of the town hall meeting as a venue to address the concerns of the OFWs in Oman.  He conveyed appreciation for the Filipino Community’s continued support to the programs of the government and of the Embassy. 

More than 200 Filipino nationals from as far as Buraimi, Barka, Mussanah and Rustaq, attended the town hall meeting. 

Earlier in the day, Undersecretary Arriola interacted with the organizers and participants of the one-day Medical Mission for OFWs and their families in Oman. END
