The remains of murdered Filipino overseas worker Angelo Claveria are now with his family in Iloilo.

27 May 2018 - The remains of an overseas Filipino worker murdered in South Korea two years ago are now with his loved ones in the Philippines, the Department of Foreign Affairs said today.

In a statement, the DFA said the remains of 34-year-old factory worker Angelo Claveria were received this morning by his family in Cabatuan, Iloilo, more than two years after he disappeared.

Director Iric Arribas of the Office of Migrant Workers Affairs personally conveyed the condolences of Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano to the family.

Director Arribas said Claveria’s mother, Angelita, expressed his appreciation to the Department and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration for repatriating the remains of her son and for providing burial assistance to the family.

The family also expressed its appreciation to Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence Go for his assistance.

The DFA said Claveria’s remains were discovered inside a septic tank of a paint factory in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, outside Seoul in April. His remains were positively identified early this month after DNA testing.

Investigators in South Korea said Claveria was believed to have been murdered by a  Filipino coworker who is now the object of a manhunt in the Philippines. END
